Network Marketing Lead Generation Tip-How To Overcome Shyness and Generate Leads





As someone who has been in network marketing for awhile, I am sure you know that having a steady stream of mlm leads to talk to is important. For those of us who are shy, this does seem a bit daunting at times! The good news is that whether you are shy or not, it normal to have some fears about talking to prospects.

Today's network marketing lead generation tip involves steps to overcome your shyness
plus generate leads at the same time. In a recent newsletter, Tom Schreiter shares some great strategies you can use right away and get your mlm business moving in the right direction.

Are you shy? Welcome to being "normal."

Yes, we all have inner fears about talking to people when we have an agenda of trying to sell them something.

This is what happens when you talk to someone when you are not prospecting:

Because you have no agenda, because you are not trying to sign them up, you are relaxed. You are giving. You are helping. You are just interested in them, and it feels good, right?

But what happens when you have an agenda, go out to meet people to sell them into your business? Well, you feel fearful inside. Why? Because you don't have their best interests at heart. You are thinking more about your agenda than thinking about helping them.

So let's fix that. How about this?

Why not try to meet a lot of new people in person ... with no agenda! Just be interested in them. You will build a huge group of new friends and acquaintances. Then, when appropriate for them, you can tell them about your business or products.

Now if I wanted to meet new people, I think I would try to meet new people who want to go forward in their lives. Here is what you could do:

1. Join Toastmasters. You'll meet motivated people, and will learn a new skill.

2. Join all those free networking events in your area. Everyone will be passing out cards, but you'll be smart. Instead of meeting 40 people, you will build a relationship with two or three at each event.

3. Go to all those free introduction seminars where they try to sell you expensive real estate investing courses, etc. Make a friend or two among the people attending. They obviously want to move forward in their life.

4. Join an inexpensive heath club. Work out, get in shape. Meet other people who want to do the same.

5. Join the 5K walks or the 10K runs. These people like to do things.
Got the idea?

If you have no one now, don't worry. You are just beginning, and with a little time, you will have many warm market contacts. So don't feel bad if you don't have a huge influence with lots of people ... yet.

Just go to events like ones listed above. Meet people. Try to be helpful. And in time, you're going to have a huge list of people who respect you and would love to hear great ideas from you.

Remember, no agenda. Just meet and make a friend.

The worst that can happen is that you end up with a lot of great friends.

And the best that can happen is that meeting people becomes more natural for you. You soon realize that most people are afraid to approach you to be their friend and appreciate that you took the first step. So go out and mingle, have fun, learn new things, meet new friends ... and let's see what happens over the next 30 days.

And if someone does ask you about your business, you can quickly give them a "One-Minute Presentation" or tell them the "Two-Minute Story" and be done with it quickly. :)

MLM Recruiting Strategy-Stop Giving Presentations



If you have been reading my blog posts for awhile, you know that Tom Schreiter is one of my favorite mlm mentors. In a recent "Big Al Report", he gave some advice which may sound strange to most of us. He said to stop giving presentations. Now, everybody knows when it  comes to any business, and not just mlm, you have to give presentations or else your business will never grow. If you will take the time to read on, there is a method to the madness it may appear Tom is sharing. In fact, what he shared made pretty good sense!

I only had 30 minutes during this conference training call, just enough time to irritate the listeners by telling them that their presentations were useless.

They protested by saying their prospects were different. Their prospects make the final decision to join their business based upon ... (and this is funny) ... FACTS!

So I challenged them about some of the killer facts they had about their business. Here are some of the facts and my comments:

* "We are the 17th largest MLM company in the world." - Gee, if size mattered, why wouldn't the prospect join one of the 16 companies larger than you?

* "We are the 37th fastest growing company in the INC 500 list." - Wow. Why should I take a slow grower like you when I could pick an even faster grower? I've got 36 better candidates to choose from.

* "Our product is patented." - Let's see. About a few million other products are patented, too. And most patents require an investment of a couple hundred dollars to get the paperwork. Not too impressive.

* "We pay out a full 50% in our compensation plan." - Well, if I should make a decision based upon percentage payout of a compensation plan, then maybe I should join one of the hundreds of programs that pay out more than 50%.

* "We are a 17-year-old debt-free company." - If length of time was the decision factor, shouldn't I join a company that is older than yours? And wouldn't debt-free mean that your accounting department didn't know how to use leverage to lower its costs? Ouch.

* "Our chief scientist taught at a prestigious medical school." - This sounds more like my scientist can beat up your scientist. So should I join a company who has a better scientist who got some cool awards, or maybe a Nobel Prize?

* "Our management team has 84 years of combined networking experience." - Well, I have 60 years of dieting experience, and that doesn't make me thin. So are you telling me that I should join a different company who has a management team with more than 84 years' networking experience?

* "Our secret ingredient has more antioxidants than their secret ingredient." - So if I join your company, and I find another company that has 2 more units of antioxidants, then I will have to quit your company and join them?

Okay, starting to see a pattern yet? I am sure you get the point. It is not the facts in our presentation that affect our prospects' decisions.

Stop using presentations to get prospects to make decisions. Instead, learn the skills of how to close and how to do our business instead of living in some fantasy world where we think that facts make a difference.

As a wise man once said, "Figure it out."

Networking Marketing Tips- What is the big disaster to Avoid?



I really enjoy reading through Tom Schreiter's emails because they are always packed full of network marketing tips! If folks follow his advice and not sit on it, their business will grow.

In a recent mailing, Tom talked about how many new distributors make big, disastrous mistakes and the reasons for it. It's up to us who have been involved in mlm for awhile to guide and teach our new partners their objectives, what to say, and what to do so they won't end up  hurting themselves and becoming discouraged.

As new distributors we shoot ourselves in the foot, turn off our prospects, make people skeptical ... before we even begin to tell them about our wonderful business.

Let me give you some examples. A new distributor will ask something like this,

1. "My opportunity is perfect for anybody. Everyone needs more money. So I am going to stop strangers in the street, and what should I say to them next?"

2. "My diet product is awesome. I will go to the donut shop and find all the fat people who are sitting on two chairs. So should I give them a sample and follow up by telephone?"

3. "Our company has a terrific car program. I want to put a flyer on every junk car window in the parking lot. What should I say on the flyer?"

Are you seeing a trend? Are you starting to cringe? Do you have a feeling something is wrong and you just can't put your finger on it?

I know what is wrong. Why? Because I asked the same questions when I started 40+ years ago. I didn't "get it."

I knew prospects wanted to buy awesome products and change their lives with more money. So that is what I presented. But I forgot one little detail.

If the prospects don't believe us, if the prospects are skeptical, well, nothing we say about our products or company will make a difference.

I never knew about this first step, and I definitely didn't have the skill to execute this first step.

In order for any mlm business to grow, a rep has to have a nice, steady flow of interested prospects. Today's network marketing prospecting technique has to do with where to find motivated prospects each day. Trust me, if you have car, you can do this!

Where to find great, captive, motivated prospects by Tom Schreiter

And don't pay at the pump!

Inside the quickshop is a clerk. What do we know about this clerk?

1. The clerk is motivated by money. Hey, the clerk is working, right?

2. The clerk is responsible. Somebody trusts the clerk to handle money.

3. The clerk is underpaid. I have never seen an overpaid clerk.

4. The clerk probably hates the job. It's boring, especially on the night shift.

5. And I bet the clerk would like more money.

Simply say to the clerk something like this (remembering the rule of disagreement from my London Conference 2001 CD album):

"Hey, this looks like a pretty nice job. You get to work inside and you don't have to worry about nasty weather."

The clerk usually will disagree and now your conversation begins. Easy, isn't it?

Type 2: Those that have given up on life and are just waiting to die.

Network marketing prospecting techniques-What to say to your worthless brother-in-law



Today's network marketing prospecting technique comes from Tom Schreiter. A few minutes ago, I finished reading a email he sent out to his list. It offered some good ideas on how to get our new prospects started off right. Everybody knows people will fail miserably if they have no guidance. Since we don't want to do that to our team members, doesn't it make sense to tell them exactly what to do?

What to say to your worthless brother-in-law by Tom Schreiter

I am often asked, "So what do I say to strangers?"

The distributor wants to stop a stranger in the street, and sell that stranger their product ... because it will really help that stranger.

For example, someone sells a diet product. They want to stop fat people in the street as we walk by, because their product really, really works well, and we need it.

Do you see "ugly" about to happen?

The new distributor hasn't got a clue about our business. They think they are in the product-selling business, or the business opportunity business. It is a good idea that they do networking as a hobby, because they won't be earning much money in the future.

So what does that distributor want from me? A cool "Ice Breaker" that will induce an instant buying response from the prospect. Unfortunately, that is step #2 in the process, not step #1.

Well, this distributor doesn't even know that the presentation is step #4, so the distributor rushes to do presentation after presentation, with minimal or miserable results. Everything is out of order.

So as professional sponsors, we have to realize our new distributors are clueless. They are brand new, and they don't even know what they don't even know. It is like a new job.

As part of our obligation of being a sponsor, we have to at least tell them what is really going on. They don't know where to start.

So what should we do?

Maybe start with the minimal basics. Teach the new distributor the four processes, the four steps that happen in human encounters. At least then they won't be trying to give presentations as step one or step two.

So think about building your business this way. When someone starts a new job, they need someone to tell them exactly what to do, exactly what to say, what order to do things, etc. This would be how you would build a trained team.

So if someone wants to earn money, let's teach him or her the 25 basic skills. And if someone wants to do it as a hobby, at least teach him or her the four steps we must do in a human encounter.

Most of our problems, questions, and grief come from not telling our new distributors the basics.

Network Marketing Tips-Why Your Prospects Say "No"!



If you have been in mlm for awhile, I am sure you have heard your share of "no's! It can be so frustrating. The prospect seem to be interested, they are asking questions, they look  like they are ready to join, and then all of a sudden they say things like, "I have to think about it", "I have to talk to my husband", etc. Most times, these phrases are the special code for "heck no!"

I was just reading Tom Schreiter's "Big Al Report" and he shared some thoughts on why this is so. After you read what Tom says, it does make sense.

Why your prospect says, "No!"by Tom Schreiter


Yes, the compensation plan is great. The products are awesome. Great upline support.

Your prospect agrees that your opportunity is the greatest thing to happen in the history of human civilization. And then your prospect tells you ...

"No!"

How is that possible?

What is going on in your prospect's mind?

Just read this short lesson to see exactly how you "break the code" and guarantee a sale.

Because he hates risk. Nobody likes risk.

And what could go wrong for your prospects? Well . . .
* They could join and not like the product.

* They could join and waste their money on a distributor kit they won't use.

* They could join and look foolish when their friends turn them down.
Risk is the biggest fear in your prospect's mind . . . and you can remove this fear and make your prospect feel comfortable. Simply remind them of and reinforce your guarantee before you give your presentation.

If your product or service has a guarantee, make sure your prospect knows that he is trying it on a no-risk trial basis.

If your distributor kit has a 60-day money-back guarantee, make sure your prospect knows that he has 60 days to see if the business is really for him.

And if your prospect is afraid of looking foolish when his friends turn him down? Well, sometimes you can't remove every risk -- but you can try. Maybe a little coaching or training will help. Or better yet, why don't you make the presentation while your new distributor observes?

Does removing risks really work?

Like a magic charm. I use it all the time. For example, I was trying to make a $3,000 sale to a friend of mine for nine months. No deal. He wasn't sure he'd get $3,000 worth of value. So last month I made a different offer. I removed the risk.

I said, "Make a $22,000 order and don't pay me until this order makes you at least $22,000."

The result: A $22,000 order on the spot.

The moral is:

Make your prospect's decision easy by removing his risk. This makes your sponsoring, retailing and promoting so much easier.

Women hate this.

A man is watching television. He slowly changes channels with his remote control. Click. Click. Click. Click. Every two seconds, he surfs to a new channel.



Click. Click. Click. Click.

So how long does it take this man to make a final decision if he wants to watch that channel or not? Less than two seconds.

The man makes his final decision with almost no facts, almost no information. The man doesn't watch the entire show. He decides in less than two seconds if that show is for him, or not.

You are thinking, "Hey, that's not fair. He needs to know more. He needs to watch the channel longer." Well, it may not be fair, but it is how it is.

The man has a mechanism inside of his brain that automatically makes the final decision about that channel, and this mechanism works in seconds. No facts needed.

Your prospects use this same mechanism to make their final decision about your business. They don't make their decision on facts or information. So please, don't irritate your prospects with facts and information when you are seeking a decision. That would be rude.

Tips On Network Marketing-How I fired my sadistic personal trainer



I love to browse through Tom Schreiter's "The Big Al Report" which is packed with all kinds of cool network marketing tips.

In a recent report, Big Al shared a story about a personal training session he had. It was funny, yet also made a strong point. It was all about learning to see things from a prospect's perspective. It was good stuff so I thought I'd pass these "gems" on you.

How I fired my sadistic personal trainer by Tom Schreiter. 

My body is a donut storage warehouse, not a lean, mean, exercise machine. That is where I am now. 

So why not hire a professional trainer to help me to get in shape ... gradually? 

Here is what happened. 

The first day of training started with a one mile jog on a treadmill. The only thing I have ever jogged was my memory. Twelve agonizing minutes later, the one mile death jog was over. 

Exhausted, I am thinking my first day of getting into shape may be my last. 

But then, my personal trainer announced that now that I have "warmed up" ... it is time to start my training exercises. Not funny. She is now unemployed. 

To her, a one mile jog is warming up the muscles. That is where she is on the ladder of physical fitness. That is not where I am. 

In the four steps of a prospecting encounter, rapport is the first step. We have to meet people where they are, not where we are. 

We may have the vision of an entrepreneur, we may have a good self-image, and we may be motivated to excel ... but our prospect? Maybe our prospect isn't at the same level of vision and achievement that we are. 

Our prospects may see the world completely different than we do. So our presentation of our business must be from the prospect's viewpoint, not ours. If not, our prospect "fires us" and stops listening. 

The first step is always rapport. 

If you have rapport, then you can begin your presentation. If you don't have rapport, then you will have objections and resistance. 

New distributors almost always skip the rapport step. And, they don't know how to create instant rapport with their prospects. They need to learn quickly.

Tips on Network Marketing-I Am Just Curious, Have You Heard About the MLM "Spillover" Myth.


Today's tips on network marketing to help you continue to advance your business this year has to do with "spillover." Spillover sounds good doesn't it? Some might be thinking that it may even help them grow their mlm business.

The truth is, if you want to grow your mlm business in 2013, its best to run the other if a company begins to talk about "spillover." In the following article, Michael Dlouhy will share his thoughts about this myth. As someone who has been a professional network marketer for many years, I think it would be safe to say he knows what he is talking about.

The Network Marketing "Spillover" Myth-By Michael Dlouhy

A caller recently told me he's joining an MLM company because they promised him spillover. I said, "They are lying to you!"

The guy called me back later and said, "I point-blank asked them if I'd get people put underneath me, and the guy said, 'Well, we can't guarantee that.'"

Spillover - Creating a Welfare Mentality

Good people want training, not welfare. They want to build it themselves. They just want to learn the skills they need to build their network marketing business and create residual income, money that's coming in week after week, year after year, and they can will it to their children's children.

When you look at a lot of network marketing websites, you often see that word "spillover." The proposition, more or less, is, "get in now, today, and you'll get all this spillover."

In 27 years, I have never, ever, ever seen anybody get spillover, having somebody build it for them.

And if you look closely at the compensation plans of the companies that promote spillover, you'll find out that those who get spillover usually don't get paid on it. There are other hoops to jump through to get paid on that spillover, and these people rarely ever qualify.

So it's the person who actually does the work who gets the pay ... what a novel idea!

Companies & reps use "spillover" as a tool to drag in people who think they can build a business without doing any work. In other words, no sponsoring, no recruiting. It targets that type of person.

When You Say "Spillover", You Are Targeting Quitters!

When you see a network marketing company that promotes spillover for their home business, they're looking for welfare-minded people. The problem for you is, you can't build with these people, unless YOU do all the work! That's what they expect. And when you don't build their business, they'll be off somewhere else, looking for a better welfare plan.

So really, when you or your company promote spillover, you are targeting people who will not be with you long-term. And in network marketing, that makes absolutely no sense. The failure rate will be 100%.

And Here's Why The Leads You Buy Tell You To Go Pound Sand!

The quickest way to build a huge list is to offer the moon and require nothing (no money, no work, no purchase) in return. You'll see companies promoting "we've signed up more people faster than anybody else in the history of network marketing." Problem is, there's nobody ordering any product. It's just a bunch of names on a list ... but now they can call these people "network marketers."

Then they turn around and sell this huge database of worthless names (an "MLM genealogy list") For $10,000 each to 10 different list brokers. BAM! That's $100,000 profit! And then the list brokers sell these "leads" to all the people in network marketing who want to build their business ... including YOU!

So you pay $2-$3 a lead for these people, you call them up, and they tell you, "Hey! You're nuts! I've never been in network marketing!" They don't even know what it is. They just opted in to some pie-in-the-sky list, hoping to get something for nothing.

Conclusion? Run like heck from any company focused on "spillover" ... and ALWAYS generate your own leads.
