Network Marketing Tips and Strategies-The Definition of Marketing Insanity

I was recently revisiting Michael Dlouhy’s ebook, “Success in 10 Steps”, which is crammed full of awesome network marketing tips and strategies.

In case you have not heard about the book, Michael, a mlm legend, gives networkers the ulitimate shortcut, his proven method for guiding reps safely through what he called the “mlm minefield.” For those of us who are done stumbling through years of mlm trial and error, this ebook was written just for us.

In a chapter one entitled, “Bottom Fishing for Heavy Hitters”, Michael writes about all of the crazy advice many “heavy hitters” recommend to people. One that caught my eye was a segment called “Marketing Insanity”. He says:

“They hitters have more wonderful advice for you: ‘Talk to EVERYBODY about your business opportunity.’

Oh man, don’t get me started!

There’s an old saying you hear from me from time to time: the reason you have 2 ears and 1 mouth is you should LISTEN twice as much as you TALK.

Take a good look the next time you see a heavy hitter. I swear, if you look closely, you’ll see the guy has zero ears and THREE MOUTHS!

Ok. For the sake of argument, let’s see where their advice leads us.

Let’s say you owned a shoe store. You get 300 visitors. If you have the right styles, colors, and price, could you sell some shores?

But you’d never try fitting a corporate secretary working at the Trump Towers with men’s construction boots

Not appropriate.

And not everyone wants your business opportunity.

This advice works great for the 10% of the populations who are salespeople.

But, if you are part of the 90% who hate pushy, aggressive people, THIS lie will make you feel totally inadequate to ever build a network marketing business.

The key is target marketing. Just talk to people who want your products and services. Lead with benefits so REAL prospects see the value of your offer and ask you for more information.

I think Michael has nailed it. In network marketing, not only are skills important, but also knowing how to TARGET market. After all, everybody knows ‘fire-hosing” people never works! I think Michael’s advice is great to follow!
