Free Network Marketing Information-How Men and Women Surf Online

I came across this great article about the difference in men and women and their online shopping habits.

As someone who is mlm, direct sales, affiliate marketing, etc., I thought this would be very useful info. So, this is what today's free network marketing information tip is all about!

Marketing Online - Men and Women Use the Internet Differently By Laura Lake, About.com

http://marketing.about.com/od/internetmarketingstrategy/a/genderdifferences.htm

When it comes to marketing online, you must understand your consumers. This means learning what they look for, and how they use the internet. This can help you grab their attention and get your marketing message in front of the right audience.

It's also important to realize that when it comes to online habits of men and women - they differ. I know, surprise! In the past there has been a lag with women when it came to the adoption of the internet, that is no longer the case. Truth is, studies show that women under the age of 65 are quicker to use the internet than men. As women we love to use the internet for research, where men prefer to use it as an entertainment tool. Do you see how this information can help?

When we review studies that have been done on the different ways that men and women use the internet, we can gain a greater deal of knowledge on how to position our products online.

Let's take a look at what a past study done by Pew Internet and American Life showed, while this study was done in 2005 I still believe much of the knowledge is applicable and can be used today.

Men are more likely to use the internet to:

  • Read the news
  • Buy travel services or make reservations
  • Check sports scores and gather sports information
  • Stay updated on political news
  • Participate in online auctions, such as ebay
  • Write content to publish online
  • Download music
  • Buy and sell stocks, bonds and mutual funds

A Forrester study done in 2007 also showed that on the average men tend to stay online longer and devote more time to online entertainment and researching technical gadgets.

Women use the internet to:

  • Get health information
  • Read spiritual and religious information
  • Gain access and participate in support group websites
    • A few other interesting statistics that were provided in a different study done by Burst Media in the beginning of 2009 stated the following:

      • 62.3% of women use the internet as their primary source for information on the products they were considering purchasing.
      • 51.7% of the women studied use the internet as the primary way to keep in touch with their families

As you can see men go online to be entertained and hunt down information, where women tend to go online to gather information that assists them in nurturing, themselves and those around them. Clearly while both men and women generally spend allotments of time online, gender stereotypes are prevalent in what they do with their time online.

Putting it to Use: Think about who your potential customer is online. Is the majority male or female? Can you see how this information can assist you in not only where but how to position your product or service in order to increase the conversions you gain online? How will you use this information in upcoming marketing campaigns?

Free Network Marketing Information-The ABC's Of Internet Marketing

For those of us in network marketing, direct sales, or any other type of online business, we are well aware of the power of the internet. However, for some, marketing online seems confusing.

In today's free network marketing information post, we will be talking about the basics of internet marketing. Hopefully after reading the post, you will be able to come up with a few ways to market your product or service online.

ABC's of Internet Marketing

By Laura Lake, About.com

http://marketing.about.com/od/internetmarketing/a/internetsuccess.htm

There are many options when it comes to using the internet to market your service or products. This can often leave marketers confused and wondering where to start.

The marketing vehicles that we can chose from include:

  • Search Engine Optimization
  • Paid Search
  • Affiliate Marketing
  • Email marketing
  • Blog Marketing

Where will you get the most bang for your buck? I wish I could give you a concrete answer or a plan that would get you started and on the path to success guaranteed, but truth is every merchant differs. I can however equip you with the basic strategy that I've followed.

With that said in my 11 years of interactive marketing there is a formula that I suggest and a reason for it; let me explain. I have taken the below from my own experience, both in marketing my own companies as well as those of my clients.

Search engine optimization using organic listing within search engines to get your products seen by those who are searching for specific keyword terms tends to have fantastic results. The downside is this method can take up to 3 to 6 months to begin seeing results. Can you wait 3 to 6 months? If you are like most businesses the answer will be resounding no.

There is an option to organic search engine optimization and that is paid search. This is where you use companies such as Google Adwords or Overture to set a budget and pay per click for listing that are at the top of the search page on specific key terms. I would not suggest depending solely on pay per click advertising. This can become costly and if not managed well can be a drain financially. Often companies will outsource their paid search campaigns, not because they can not learn to do it or can not manage it on their own but because they want someone with a great deal of experience to make sure they are getting the most for their money.

Affiliate marketing or often what is referred to as strategic partnerships is the opportunity to present your products or services to experience online marketers and you pay them a commission for the sales that they drive. The great benefit to this marketing option is that it costs you nothing unless they in fact send your sales. The downside is at times its difficult to find the great affiliate marketers unless you have connections within the industry or your hire a company that knows how to go about recruiting effective marketers. I would make one key suggestion be sure to test your landing page for conversion purposes. If you find great strategic partners and your landing page doesn't convert you will lose them quicker than you can imagine. Test your landing page with a paid search campaign in order to make tweaks, changes, or just increase your conversion rates based on your findings with the paid search campaign.

Email marketing is not dead, but let's just say it's a little harder to grab attention with email. We have been bombarded for so long with spam and messages that are not pertinent or of urgency that we tend to be quick to hit the delete key. I'm not saying that email marketing can't work with a permission-based subscriber list, but your message will need to catch their attention within the first thirty seconds and have a very strong call to action in order to get your viewer to move on your offer.

Blog marketing exploded in 2006. Search engines love blogs and readers love to read them in their own leisure time. We pull in the feeds that are important to us and we can view them when we want to. A blog will help your viewers stay on top of your current offers, specials and important news. If you don't have a blog, my question to you is what are you waiting for?

What's your plan of action in internet marketing? To sum it up quickly begin with paid search while you build out organic search results. Explore affiliate marketing, but only after you've run a test campaign using paid search venues. Continue to market to your permission list with email, but don't wait another moment to start a company blog.

Free Network Marketing Information Tip-The Top 10 Ways to Attract People To Your Website

I have run across a blog that has a ton of cool internet marketing tips. I believe that what is talked about can also benefit those in network marketing, direct sales, etc.

So, today's free network marketing information tip will cover the top 10 ways to attract people to your website.

10 Useful Tips To Attract People To Your Website

Combinations of two or more of the tips below are being used by many successful sites today. Use your imagination and see what you can do with them. Because there are so many web sites on the internet today visitors are spread quite thinly and web traffic is one of the scarcest commodities on the internet today. Without it your online business does not exist.

Author: Steven Collins is a senior web designer and SEO consultant at Desktop Web Design who specialize in small business websites. Everyone’s needs are different so we will design a site just for you. When we have a basic design prepared it will be submitted for your approval before it is completed so that you can be sure it is what you were hoping for.

1. Give people a free subscription to your newsletter. Almost everyone is publishing a newsletter nowadays so it is important to give something extra with the free subscription. You need to set yourself apart from the other internet marketers out there. This might be done by offering a gift or free advertising when people subscribe.

l content. Your content will be more attractive to your visitors if it is up-to-date or original. You could also offer people the option to reprint the content in their newsletter or web site. You will need to change your content frequently if you do this. But the benefits are worth the effort. The search engines will love your site and keep coming back. Your site will rank highly in their results and your visitors will keep coming back for the latest updates.

3. Use PPC directories. You can advertise in pay per click directories. With PPC you only pay when some one clicks on your link. If no one clicks you pay nothing. This method is very good if you are selling a product at your site. It is easy to assess the cost of each sale and measure you success.
There are lots of PPC sites out there now. Google and Yahoo! are not the only ones. You can often get a better deal at these other sites depending on the competition for the keyword you are using.

Shop around. There is probably a site out there with your keyword going cheap. But, Make sure that it can deliver the traffic. You can do this by checking its Alexa rank. If it is not getting much traffic itself, how is it going to direct traffic to you?

4. Give visitors a free ebook. You could write your own and include an ad in the ebook linking to your site and allow other people to sell it or give it away. If you don’t want to take the time to write one, you could ask other writers permission to use their articles and assemble an article eBook. Or commission an eBook. There are plenty of writers around willing to write a fresh eBook for you at a fair price.

5. Hold free online classes or seminars. They could be held in your web site’s chat room. The idea of “live” information will entice people to visit your web site. You will become known as an expert on the topic.

6. Offer free consulting to your web site visitors. You could do this via e-mail or by telephone. People will consider this a huge value because consulting fees can be very expensive. Use a separate business line if you use the phone or you will have calls coming in to your home phone around the clock as the world turns. If your site becomes known for this service you may need to employ people to help keep up. If this happens you can bring in a two tier system whereby you have a free service and a paid service offering something extra.

7. Give visitors a free entry into a contest. The prizes should be something of interest or value to your visitors or relevant to your site’s topics. Most people who enter will continually revisit your web site to get the results. Do not be discouraged if the first one or two contests do not set the world on fire. The word has to get out. People will talk to their friends about this site that is running this great contest, and before too long your site will have a name for running contests. There are people out there who really go for that sort of thing and will visit your site regularly.

8. Let visitors download free software. It could be freeware, shareware, demos etc. You could even turn part of your site into a free software area and let other people sell it or give it away from this area. You do not need to produce the free software yourself. There are plenty of sources on the web. All you have to do is link to them. If you gather a significant amount of software of a type relevant to the topic of your site you will make your site a valuable resource for your visitors and they will keep coming back to get more.

9. Offer free online services or utilities. They could be search engine submitting, copy writing proofreading etc. The service or utility should be helpful to your target audience.

10. Give your visitors a free membership to an online club. People like to feel that they belong to something, why not your online club. You could also give away a free newsletter for club members only. The members will very likely want to contribute a large part of its content making it easy to source articles. If you offer them a link back to their own site your members will be queuing up to put content in your newsletter.

It goes without saying that all of the above should be relevant to the topic of your site in order to be of interest to your visitors. Do not keep changing the topic of your site. I see this happening all too often. The webmaster has a site for three months or so and becomes disheartened because his site not taken off as he hoped, so he decides to try a different topic.

Doing so he / she loses the regular visitors he / she had and has to start at the beginning again in the new topic. Also, the search engines will very likely be slow to change to the new topic, confusing everyone who visits from there. It may also affect the PR of the site as the new topic may initially be viewed as unrelated content.

Free Network Marketing Information-6 Free Traffic Generating Techniques

For those in network marketing, direct sales, internet marketing, or other similar online business, we all know that generating traffic is a must.

Today's free network marketing information post is about 6 things you can do today to drive more traffic to your website for free.

6 Things You Can Do Today to Drive More Traffic to Your Website for Free

The following 6 methods are simple to implement and can be done for free by you today.

1. Email Marketing

Your first step should be to send an email to your existing clients announcing the existence of your website. You should also ask your customers to forward your email onto their friends, family and colleagues

Think Web Pages, not Websites

If you are starting a new business and don’t have any customers yet, send an email to people you know who may be interested in your offer.

Remember to email your clients every time you make changes, add new offers or features to your website to remind them to come back.

The next step could be to send your announcement to an opt-in email list. Opt-in email lists contain people or businesses who have requested to receive information about certain topic(s). There are many companies who can provide you with these lists.

Under no circumstance should you EVER send unsolicited email (spam) to people you either don’t know or who have not requested to receive your information.

2. Search Engines & Directories

Submit your website to as many search engines and directories as you can. (A search engine is a searchable database of websites collected by a computer program (called a crawler, robot or spider). When you enter a keyword, the search engine looks for keywords in its database, and any relevant records are displayed.)

Currently there are thousands of search engines and directories on the internet. Some of the main ones include Google, Yahoo, MSN. When submitting your website to the search engines, you can either do it manually by going to the search engine website and adding your URL (website address) or you can employ the services of a Search Engine Submission company, who will do it for you.

Search engines try to rank sites that contain good content higher, so you need keywords and phrases on your pages that best describe your service and products. For example, if you are a florist, use words such as “florist, online florist, virtual florist, wedding florist, florist in Sydney, florist on line, flowers, floral, bouquets, floral arrangements etc.” as many times as possible to ensure high search engine ranking. To find out what keywords your customers may be searching use Google’s Keyword Tool or Wordtracker.

Once you decide on your keywords, use them in:

(a) Your website’s domain name(b) The title of your page - This is displayed in the top bar of your browser window.

(c) The heading of your home page.

(d) The first paragraph of your home page.

(e) Meta tags - Keywords, description.

(f) Titles of your graphics.

While it is important to use keywords as much as possible, it is also important you use them only if they are relevant and do not sound awkward. If you spam your keywords, you may be penalized or even banned by some search engines.

If this all seems too overwhelming, you can employ the services of a Search Engine optimization company, who will make your website’s content more search engine friendly to make it rank higher.

3. Link Exchanges

Find websites whose business complements yours and add their website to your links/resource page. Then contact the company and ask for a reciprocal link. For example if you are a wedding dress designer, you could contact businesses that sell wedding cakes, jewellery, flowers and also venues, celebrants etc. By doing this your website will become a valuable resource for your visitors, since it will provide information they need. They may return to your site over and over to find more information.

On the other hand, you will have visitors coming to your website when they follow a link from your link partners.

Results in search engines are determined by the material you have presented on your site and by other off-page factors such as how many other sites link to your site. The more links you have pointing to your site from relevant websites, the higher your site will rank.

If you need help with this task, you can employ the services of a Link Exchange Company. They are generally inexpensive and can save you hours of time.

4. Email Signature

Every email you send should have an email “signature.” This is text that is automatically attached to the bottom of your email message. This text can be used to publicize your business. You can include your name, business name, email address, street or postal address, website details, phone number, fax number, company slogan, description of your company and its products/services. You can set up different signatures for different purposes.

To set up your signature using Outlook Express:

Step 1: Select Tools > Options from the menu bar.

Step 2: Click “Signatures” .

Step 3: Make sure that you select “Add signatures to all outgoing messages” - within the “Signature settings” section. It is up to you whether you would like your signature to appear in “replies” and “forwards”

Step 4: Click “New” (you can change the name from “Signature #1″ by clicking “Rename”) - within “Signature” section:

Step 5: Type in the text that you would like to appear at the end of your email messages - in “Edit signature” section:

Step 6: If you’re happy with this, click “Apply” and “OK”.

5. Office Stationery & Merchandising Materials

It is extremely important that your website is included on ALL your office stationery so that customers can see it over and over again. That way they are more likely to remember it. If you’ve just had your letterheads printed, you can always add your website address on your wordprocessor, when printing your correspondence. For brochures, business cards etc, consider having small labels printed up. Your office stationery should include not only your website address, but also your email. Consider adding your details to:

• Letterheads
• Business Cards
• Flyers
• Brochures
• Labels
• Packaging
• Merchandise bags
• Catalogs
• Invoices
• Fax headers
• Display units

6. Set up a Blog

A blog is basically a journal that is available on the web. Blogs are typically updated daily or weekly and can easily be managed by you. They provide a way for you to communicate with your customers directly, give you an increased presence on major search engines, allow you to stay ahead of your competition and so much more.

You can easily publish the following information in your blog: Articles, Media releases, Industry news, Surveys - so you can get feedback from your customers, Testimonials, Product reviews, Interviews, Case studies, Links to complementary businesses, Frequently asked questions and problem resolutions, Inspirational quotes, Research findings, etc.

Blogs give you an increased presence on major search engines, like Yahoo! and Google. If you use Blogger(Google’s Blogging Tool), every message you post creates a new page on Google so in a very short time you could have a lot of pages pointing to your website, bringing you lots of new visitors.

Don’t be scared to try some of these marketing methods - you have nothing to lose!
