How To Motivate Your Network Marketing Downline

If you are in network marketing as a home-based business, you surely have experienced this:

the "revolving door" syndrome - where you recruit one person and it seems two others drop out. Obviously, this is frustrating and makes you wonder why it is so difficult to get your downline to stay active. What’s worse is to see people leaving faster than you can recruit them.

Way too often we focus so much on recruiting new downline members that we forget about the downline we already have. We focus all of our energies on the toughest part of building the business, which is recruiting. Yet we forget to take action on the easiest and really most important part: follow-up.

While follow-up may seem difficult, it is extremely important for future growth and improving your retention rates. With your MLM home business, the number of people in the downline who drop out should not be dropping out like they are. The real reason why people drop out because they are often ignored or forgotten by their up line.

Your goal for your MLM business should be to improve the retention within your own team and to be a strong leader for your downline. This should be a priority.

Below are seven strategies you MUST do to make sure "revolving door" in your organization stays tightly locked and to keep your downline active for years and not months.

1. Commit to a customer service policy. If you truly want to build a solid and profitable network marketing business, you need to implement the policy of provide service and follow-up to your downline. Remember, people join a network marketing because of you, not the product or service. They have belief that you can help them meet their goals and have something beneficial to offer.

2. Follow-up is following-through. Just because someone signs up in your network marketing company, does not mean the sale is complete. You must follow-up with your new downline member within one week. Give them a courtesy call within the week to ensure they are happy and are using the product/service. If they want to build the business, call to make certain they are tapping into the resources and getting off to a good start.

3. Staying in contact shows you care. In your prospecting and recruiting efforts, you planted seeds to start the relationship building process. Stay in touch with your downline. An autoresponsder is a great tool to use for this. You can send your downline motivational quotes, techniques that you use that are successful, inform them of new resources they can use for their business, etc. Doing this will show you care and value their business. Staying in touch will also provide you with an opportunity to get additional business and to strengthen the relationship.

4. Anticipate the needs of your downline. By staying in contact, you can anticipate or stay ahead of your downline needs. You will strengthen your relationship and will more fully understand their current needs. This ultimately leads to anticipation of future needs. Try to always think ahead. This will help you keep your downline happy and satisfied.

5. Keep a database on members in your network marketing home business downline. As your business grows, it will become impossible to keep all downline information and individual needs in your head. You must create customer files with personal information on your downline. This can include their likes, dislikes, goals, passions, birthdays, anniversaries, etc. You get the idea.

6. Work closely with your downline members and be supportive. No one is guaranteed success. However, you will be amazed at how high of a success rate you will have with those you personally sponsor when you work closely with them and support their efforts. Keep in mind some people will never do what they need to do and you can't change that. But, if you provide support and show you care, you improve the retention of your downline.

7. Create intimacy with your downline. Be genuine in your concern for your members. Show them you are not just in it to get their money. You must go above and beyond to assist people in getting what they want and need. The difference between you and your competition boils down to one thing - customer service. If you provide value through concern for them as a person and deliver quality customer service in every way possible, you will find your members will be there for the long term.

If you want an active and productive downline in your network marketing home-based business, keep in mind, the stability of your residual income will be in direct proportion to your personal follow-up and customer service. Make follow-up and customer service your PRIORITY! Your wealth and your downline members depend on it!

Four Tips To Build Your Own Successful MLM Opt-In List

If you currently are operating a MLM business from home you already know how important it is to have a continuous flow of highly targeted prospects. You also know that to help your business grow, some of your prospects need to join your MLM home-based opportunity.

While most MLM companies have a way for their distributors to keep in touch with their prospects with tools such as an autoresponder, in reality, much more is needed. Distributors in MLM opportunities need to be able to create their own opt-in lists through other creative strategies; they need to have a way to stand out from the crowded field of distributors that is so unique people will want to sign up and receive more information from them by subscribing to their list.

The good news is there is a way to do this. Here are four tips to help you build in your own, highly responsive and targeted MLM opt-in list.

Tip #1: Research your competitor’s websites. Look at how they market their items. Study if they have a clean web page; look to see if they are missing something in their message and how your approach can be different. Doing this will give you ideas about what you can do better when building your own list of opt-in subscribers.

Tip #2: Visit forums. Go to Google and type in whatever product your MLM company promotes along with the word forum. When you find a forum, lurk around quietly and see what people are saying about your product. Listen and see if there is are additional problems or concerns that the other websites you visited have not solved. This gives you the perfect opportunity to solve whatever the issues and be viewed as an expert. Most people would be willing to opt-in to your list if they realize you have something of value to offer.

Tip #3: Set up Joint Ventures. Research who else is selling your company’s product or something similar (e.g. health club). Look at other sites as well that may not be in direct competition, but who have products or services that could be of interest to your prospects. For example, maybe your product is a health juice, and your local chiropractor sends out a monthly newsletter to his customers. You could ask your chiropractor if he would be willing to let you write an article to include in his newsletter (with your signature file at the end of course!). In return, you could promote the benefits of chiropractic medicine to your customers along with a recommendation for your local prospects to visit the chiropractor and receive a 50% discount off the first office visit. The chiropractor, of course, would need to be willing to take 50% off the first visit. This would be a win-win situation for both of you. You would get more exposure for your business and your chiropractor more patients.

Tips#3: Create your own unique lead capture or splash page. This page should have the solutions to the problems your research showed people have as well as a link to your site to click for more information.

Tip#4: Create a newsletter. You could use your lead capture page as a means for people to sign up for your newsletter. Your newsletter should have good quality content and provide useful information to your subscribers. It should be sent out at least once a month and can include any other back-end offers or products that you promote which might be of potential interest to your list. Of course, links on how people can sign up or get the products of your MLM company would also be included as well!

These are simple tips that you can use to create your own unique opt-in MLM list of prospects on an on-going basis. They will help you stand out from the field of distributors of your company, and help your business to continue to grow.

If you are looking to start a home-based business or currently have one, you likely already know how important it is to market your business and get targeted traffic to your site.

Here are some strategies to help you in this process.

5 overlooked ways to market your work at home business

by: Trent Brownrigg

Everyone is always looking for more ways to market their work at home business. You often here about PPC advertising, writing articles, link exchanges, and a few other business marketing techniques that everyone uses. However, there are many other ways to market your work at home business that a lot of people just don’t think of.

I have offered five good business marketing techniques below that are often overlooked. Of course, many people do use them but there’s not nearly as much competition in these techniques as there is with some of the others. Plus, these marketing techniques are all either free or very near it. Getting traffic to your site for free or very little cost is always a good thing in my opinion.

Here are five ways to market your work at home business that you may not have thought of before:

1) Enhanced Business Card – Get a business card with color, an eye catching background, and add your picture to it. Maybe you could also have a cool quote or a free offer on it, plus anything else you can think of to get peoples attention.

The point is you need to make it stand out among all the other business cards someone might see in a month. Make sure your website URL is on it in a highly noticable place. Then, leave it everywhere you can, and hand it out to everyone you meet.

2) Give away freebies - Underpromise and overdeliver! That is the best business marketing strategy ever thought up. Pretty much all the “big-dogs” use it in their marketing campaigns. You can too by giving away free stuff at your website, or in your newsletter, without telling anyone they will be receiving it.

Say someone visits your website from an ad you placed that didn’t mentioned anything about getting a free ebook. They will be absolutely delighted to find the extra free gift. This is a great way to get people to not only return to your site, but tell their friends about it too.

3) Sponsor Events - A great way to spread the word about your business is to sponsor events in your area. There are many games, events, charity drives, intramurals, little leagues, etc... That are just waiting for people like you to give a little bit of your money to help out.

You will usually get your business name on a T-shirt, a sign, a flyer, or something else related to the event. A lot of people will be seeing these events and YOUR business name. It’s a great way to drive local traffic to your online business website or offline business if you have one.

4) Blogs - Having your own business blog can be a great marketing tool. With a blog you can quickly and easily offer free business advice, information, fun stuff, resources, tips, or anything else you want.

If you have a very interesting and/or informative business blog people will keep returning for the great stuff that your blog offers. Update it every day or two with fresh info and you can build a strong following fairly quickly.

I have used this marketing technique successfully for the past few months. You can see one for yourself by visiting my “home biz tips” blog at

5) Guestbooks - There are many people that have guest books on their websites that you can sign. Most of them allow you to put a link to your website when signing. This can be a good way to bring some traffic to your site and get a one-way inbound link that those search engines really love.

Make sure you don’t just post a random comment or spam the guestbook. You should actually check out the website and leave a useful message. This will keep your reputation intact and provide the webmaster with usable information. A win-win situation!

Alright, now you are armed with five more work at home business marketing techniques to bring traffic to your website and customers to your business. Get going on them now so you can increase your profits this week!

5 Keys To A Successful Home-Based Business Ezine

Did you know that one of the best ways to keep in touch with your home-based business prospects and customers is through creating an ezine?

Coming up with your own ezine, once your business has gotten off the ground, isn't difficult. Here are tips to help you in this process:

5 Keys To A Successful Ezine

by: Al Martinovic

There are 5 basic keys you need for your ezine to be successful and here they are though not necessarily in this order.

1- Hosting
You need good reliable hosting for your website. You don't want to lose subscribers because your site is always down. Not only that... it's unprofessional.

Why should someone listen to what you have to say in your ezine when you can't even get the basics of having your website operational?

2- Autoresponders
You want to automate everything. An autoresponder will send a confirmation email when someone subscribes. It will handle removal requests and if it has a broadcast feature you can even send out your ezine through it.

You may need multiple autoresponders as you will find that there will be many things you want automated such as when you are offering a free report, or confirmation of an ad someone placed in your ezine... the list can go on and on.

3 - Tracking
You may want to track the ads you place when promoting your ezine to find out what ad(s) pull well for you and which don't. You don't want to be wasting your time on ads that don't work. When you find an ad that pulls well... go all out on it.

4 - Products
As you start to grow your ezine and build a relationship with your subscribers you need to offer them products. After all... you are in this to make money.

You can create your own products around your list, get resale rights to an existing product to offer to your list or you can join an affiliate program.

Now, I admit... 1-4 can get pretty expensive especially if you are on a tight budget.

TIP #1: You can go here and get all of what I just mentioned in one package and it's super cheap.

5 - Leads
Every ezine no matter how big or small needs no or low cost ways of attracting more subscribers.
You can advertise your ezine by submitting to ezine directories, announcement lists, by writing articles, or doing joint ventures such as ad swaps just to name a few. The problem is... all of this can become time consuming.

TIP #2: There is a software that will automate your entire submission process to everything I just mentioned.

TIP #3: There is a site that will bring you new subscribers for only 5 minutes of work.

There you have it. By no means is this a complete list but by getting the basics down and following the TIP's I just mentioned, you are well on your way to a profitable ezine.
